School Uniform Statement
We feel that the school uniform plays a valuable role by setting an appropriate tone in class; instilling pride in school; supporting positive behaviour and discipline; encouraging identity with, and support for, our school ethos; it protects children from social pressures to dress in a particular way and may promote good relations and equality between pupils.
We believe that our uniform statement is fair and reasonable in practical and financial terms. We believe that the uniform is practical, comfortable and appropriate and represents value for money for families. Our pupils ‘like’ our uniform.
PE is a compulsory part of the statutory curriculum from age 4 to 16. Clothing and footwear are important aspects to safety in PE. A change of clothing for PE is important for reasons of hygiene and to ensure that the clothing is suited for physical activity.
School uniform is compulsory for all pupils in Post Primary classes. [Please note that Track bottoms polo tops and sweatshirts are P.E clothing not school uniform].
Any exemptions from wearing full school uniform must be authorised by the Principal.
Parents seeking further advice on School uniforms may wish to consult Department for Education Circular 2011/04 or the Southern Education and Library Board (028 37 512200).
All pupils must wear the school uniform. It looks very smart and everyone enjoys wearing it. It also helps identify our children as belonging to a school, just like everyone else.
Pupils are asked to keep jewellery to a minimum. For safety reasons drop earrings should not be worn.
